Ngunnawal to GilgandraPhotos start on Day 2

We have now been out and back to the outback. It was a large trip where we drove over 8000km in 25 days.

We visited many of the towns along the way and saw many very different interesting places and countryside.

What I do see is that there is a huge amount of space out there. A lot of it has been ruined in the last 200 years, but I do see nature trying hard to mend itself when it is left alone.

The original title of this trip was "Uluru 2007", but this changed as Uluru, although fasctinating, was just one part of many different faces of the outback.

There are many places that I would go back and spend some time at, or even possibly live at. It wouldn't be fare for the family or kids to live in such outback places, but your holidays would sure be frequent.

The itinery for the trip didn't change at all from the plan, but the timing was a bit out. There were lots of long streches that looked better on the map than on the road.

I loved all the large, long trucks, long trains, machinery and huge mines that we visited.

The original theme of the trip is "Rock" and that is what we did most of the time.

We went down 4 underground mines, 2 open cut mines and everything we did seemed to have a rock theme.

I highly recommend the trip that we took and would defineately do it again.

The camper trailer was a great, cost effective method of doing the trip. We quickly got used to setting it up each day and packing it up in the morning. It could all be done is just 15 minutes to setup and a bit longer to pack away. We got quite a few Oohs and "Get outta here" from nearby campers that would see us arrive and be setup way quicker then they would expect.

We met tons of "Grey Nomads". These are retired couples with caravans that just travel the country side. They would chat about places they had been and ask about places we had seen. They would setup camp without any definate time of leaving or destination. Sounds great to me.

Have a read of the "day" pages. I have tried to keep them fairly short. If you want to leave me a message or ask any questions, go to the feedback section.

Thanks,

Sacada.
